HONEYMOON!!!

My doctor told us that weeks 12-28 (or maybe it was 24...I only remember the 12 part) was sort of like a honeymoon period of pregnancy. Given that the honeymoon was one of my favorite parts of getting married, I was really looking forward to the honeymoon of pregnancy.

It is only 11 weeks right now, but I think I am on my honeymoon. (knocking on all sorts of wood around here)

Sunday night I had a glorious night of sleep after a decent run. I have taken to presetting the treadmill to 10:00 pace (6.0 MPH) and I increase the pace by 0.1 every 5 minutes to keep from getting bored. (I'm like a little kid on a treadmill - I have to keep pushing buttons to keep myself amused.) Sunday's run felt pretty good - I wasn't really even sweaty afterwards. Yesterday it was pretty nice outside so I got home from work and decided to run outside.

Holy Jesus - it was like I had my mojo back. I decided to wear my watch to make sure I did at least 30 minutes of something, be it running or walking. I was cruising along and realized that I was running like my old self. No, wait, I was running like my old self, with a little munchkin along for the ride! "See", I told my belly, "This is what I have been wanting to show you". We cruised along one of my old routes and made it back home in 31 minutes. It felt so good. I was curious about my pace because as I said, it felt very different from my runs in the past couple of weeks so I figured out the mileage using Gmap Pedometer and typed it into the Runner's World Pace Calculator. 8:22! I wanted to give the baby a high five. I am not that concerned with my pace, but I have been a little down about how out of breath and out of shape I have felt in the past couple of weeks while running.

Yet another glorious part of the honeymoon is that i think my food aversions are pretty much gone. I tempted fate and ordered chicken while out to eat on Saturday night and it was tasty. It didn't gross me out at all.

And, for the second night in a row, I had 10 hours of glorious sleep.

Honeymoons are the bomb!

The baby is now the size of a lime. How appropriate that it is a tropical sort of fruit :)
