"MOMMY"

Last night was my first night of calling my mom while crying. I was having really bad abdominal pain and wasn't sure what was going on or if I should call the doctor or what. She of course told me to call the doctor. Because it was after hours, I got the doctor on call (not my doctor). She asked me a ton of questions beginning with, "Are you having any bleeding or spotting?" to which I replied, "No". PHEW. I also didn't really think I was having contractions. Not that I have ever had contractions before, but from my reading from 3 books before calling, it didn't really describe what I was feeling which was intense pain on my left side only.

The doctor said I was likely having round ligament pain. She looked up my 20 week ultrasound report where they looked at my cervix and said that it looked great. She said that she herself had it really bad with her second child, so much so that she broke out into a cold sweat. I don't know if she made that story up but it did make me feel better. She told me that if I had any bleeding or spotting to come in right away, and if I was still feeling pain tomorrow (this morning) to call my regular doctor, to whom she was sending an email.

This morning I feel fine, just as she predicted. But wow! Total freak out. I sort of dismissed round ligament pain as being like some cramps but this rendered me useless on the couch laying in a specific position all night and even made me a little nauseous. Let's hope that's a one time thing!
