Yesterday I had another doctor appointment. My husband decided to accompany me to this appointment, even though there was nothing special about it. It promised to be another round of peeing in the cup, getting weighed and asking questions. Still, it was fun to have the company.
So, I peed in the cup, and stepped on the scale. Up 6 pounds from 3 weeks and 3 days ago bringing my total weight gain to 18 pounds!! Holy Schnikey. 158 lbs. I think this is definitely more than I have ever weighed in my life. I am back over the high end of what I should weight right now, according to all of the weight gain calculators. I prefer to think along the lines of my nurse that calls me who said that I can think about the weight as I am suppossed to be gaining 1/2-1 lb a week - which means that "normal" weight gain could be 10.5 to 21 lbs for me at this stage of the game. I guess I prefer to hear that and hear that the baby is healthy but it still is hard to be above the weight gain curve.
Blood pressure is still well below normal.
The doctor asked if the baby has been moving around, which I confirmed. Then it was heartbeat time. He found it quickly and then had to re-find it because the baby moved. It was then time for the most "technologically advanced" measurement - the paper tape measure. Beginning with the second half of your pregnancy they literally measure your uterus (as felt from the outside) to track baby's growth. My doctor said it actually is fairly reliable. Things are looking good there.
I actually had a few questions this time relating to medications. My itchy watery eyes have been driving me batty - apparently I am fine to take Claritin. I have tried to hold off with medications but am starting to take Claritin today - I can't take it anymore. I also confirmed that the amount of vitamin B6 I was taking is ok. It is. Then I asked about pizza face. He said that I actually can try something over the counter (which I have been avoiding) and see how it goes. So I think i will try something a couple times a week.
So that's that - everything still fine and basically normal. Well as normal as you can get if you're my kid ;) Next doctor visit is the dreaded glucose test. I am happy because the nurse gave me the option to take the potion home and drink it before coming in - that way i don't have to sit in the waiting room for an hour.
